Daniel Burkard, Deputy Director of Moscow Domodedovo Airport, Meeting with the Global Governance and Leadership Students

On November 13, Daniel Burkard, Head of External relations, international communications and business department, Deputy Director of Moscow Domodedovo Airport and member of the world governing board of Airport Council International, held a meeting with the second-year students of the  Global Governance and Leadership undergraduate program within the “Political and Social Leaders Workshop”.

29541153_10213733455003928_1147509317978251581_n.jpgThe main topic of the workshop was a successful career start and what challenges an innocent specialist, who is just starting his professional path, may face. The expert told the students about his own career path and what experience he gained, working in communications and advertising, medical services and airlines, as well as being the owner of the youngest winery in Guntersblum, Germany. The students were especially interested in the activities of Mr. Burkard as a Deputy Director and personal adviser to the Head of Moscow Domodedovo Airport. The speaker dwelled on the functions performed by the Deputy Director of one of the main airports in Russia and what tasks he has to solve in this position. 

The workshop participants actively contributed to the discussion, asked thought-provoking and relevant questions and also shared their views on the topics, raised by the expert during his speech. Following the topic of starting your career, Mr. Burkard told the students about the meaning of “leadership” and how to develop the qualities necessary to work in the blue-chip companies in leading positions. 

At the end of the meeting, the invited speaker gave the students vital tips on how to properly organize their work in the company, how to start their career and what an entrant needs to know in order to choose the right career path and make a go of it.

Daniel Burkard graduated from the Bavarian Academy for Advertising and Marketing and the Business School of the Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg and then moved from Germany to Russia. Since 1999 he held the position of British Airways Regional Commercial director for Eastern Europe, and since 2005 he has been appointed as the top manager of the Moscow Domodedovo Airport, where he currently serves as Deputy Director. Between 2002 and 2005, Burkard had been elected for three consecutive terms as chairman of the Airline Committee in the Russian Federation, while from 2012 to 2018 he was a member of the world governing board of “Airport Council International”. Since 2018 he has been the owner of the “Gruenwalderhof” – the youngest winery in the Rheinhessen region, which creates “Trollinger Rosé” wine. In addition, Mr. Burkard have been guest lecturing at a number of universities in England and Russia.
