A key to success from the Managing Director of Lamoda Group for GGL students

IMG_0944.JPGWithin the “Corporate Leaders Workshop” students of the Global Governance and Leadership undergraduate program held informal meetings with the representatives from Russian and foreign business elites. These meetings offer to the students a unique opportunity to discuss with the experts the most burning questions about career goals, personal development, and leadership skills.

On June 14 the Managing Director of Lamoda Group, Burkhard Binder, ran a workshop “Business Models in Fashion Retail Industry” for the second-year GGL students.

Lamoda Group is leading an online platform in the sphere of fashion and lifestyle across Russia and CIS. Its online shop offers more than 4 000 000 items and 3000 international and local brands of clothes, shoe accessories, cosmetics, and perfumery. Company’s own logistics network provides express delivery in more than 150 cities all over Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. Today Lamoda Group has over 5 000 employees across Russia.

Within the workshop, the expert spoke about the formation of Lamoda and its current development strategy. In just 8 years, Burkhard Binder and three of his partners have turned a small startup into the largest online retailer in Russia. He also outlined the peculiarities of doing business in the Russian fashion industry and paid special attention to the competition in the Russian and European markets, and the creation of an attractive brand.

Students expressed a great interest in Lamoda’s new marketplace, where both beginners and well-known Russian designers can sell their clothes. The speaker explained the features and benefits of this business model.

At the end of the meeting, Burkhard Binder shared the secret of Lamoda's success: "We are confident that those who are engaged in their work, make it better.
