Public Relations as Strategic Public Diplomacy

Even when traditional diplomacies fail, public diplomacy can still save a day. But what is public diplomacy and how can you use to your advantage? This is the topic of this presentation.

Laskin is a professor of strategic communication at Quinnipiac University, USA. He is an author of over 50 publications, including books, book chapters, and scholarly articles, focused primarily on investor relations, international communications, and measurement and evaluation. His most recent book, Handbook of Financial Communication and Investor Relations, offers state-of-the-art thinking and practice in investor relations and financial communication. Laskin is a 2018 Chair-Elect of the Financial Communication section of the Public Relations Society of America.

Laskin is also a Fulbright Specialist, Page Legacy Scholar, and Plank Fellow. His research was recognized with Outstanding Article of the Year in the International Journal of Business Communication, Institute for Public Relations’ Ketchum Excellence in Public Relations Research Award, and Quinnipiac University Faculty Scholarship Award.  Laskin previously worked in investor relations, international mergers and acquisitions, and market research. 

Laskin received his PhD from the University of Florida, USA. He also has a master’s degree in international business; a master’s degree in communication; and an undergraduate degree with a double major in geography and English.
